Washtenaw Community College has been named a Center of Excellence in Nursing Education by the National League for Nursing, the only community college and one of just nine nursing programs nationwide to earn the honor this year.
WCC named a Nursing Center of Excellence by National League for Nursing. Registration for classes remains open, and prospective new students may apply at any time. WCC is gearing up for the 2023-24 academic year starting Monday, August 28. Fall semester at WCC kicks off August 28 with new academic programs, national recognitions. More than 200 members of the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices (UA) of the plumbing and pipefitting industry in the United States and Canada earned certificates and associate degrees on Thursday, highlighting a week of training at Washtenaw Community College. Certificates, associate degrees highlight annual UA training week. Conversely, should any unforeseen event result in deterioration in the district's reserves, resulting in liquidity pressures and reduced financial flexibility, we could lower the rating. “We therefore do not expect to change the rating within the two-year parameter of the outlook. “The stable outlook reflects our opinion of the district's access to the larger New York and Philadelphia MSAs (metropolitan statistical areas) and limited debt plans,” Yip said. 
Yip cited the stable local economy, strong wealth indicators, a low-to-moderate debt burden and limited capital needs. “The upgrade reflects management's conservative budgeting practices that have continued to generate consecutive operating surpluses and healthy reserves despite economic challenges,” Standard & Poor credit analyst Linda Yip said in a statement. Good news for the Howell Township Board of Education: Standard & Poor’s Rating Services raised its debt rating from A+ to AA- with a stable outlook.
