


Walking trails will connect the two parks and continue toward the housing development and retail area. Jackson's park sits north of the 200 acres of Tam O'Shanter that Stark Parks is developing. The plan shows seven full-sized fields, which also could be used for lacrosse, and four smaller soccer fields. Three picnic shelters, a maintenance building, spaces for food trucks, walking trails and multiple parking lots are part of the project.

Access to the 40 acres owned by Jackson Township is at the end of Belden Greens Circle NW. The athletic fields would be on land behind where a Meijer store and a senior housing development are being constructed. Township officials hope that bringing youth soccer and lacrosse tournaments to the area will be a boost for hotels and restaurants that have suffered and lost business because of the coronavirus pandemic. "We're building a tournament facility," township Fiscal Officer Randy Gonzalez said. The funds can be used for tourism and the township hopes the park will attract soccer and lacrosse tournaments.
